At its Glowtime event last month, Apple unveiled the iPhone 16 series to the delight of users. Recently, in a surprise move, the company introduced a new iPad mini model. The tablet is now available for pre-order, and its price and specifications have also been revealed.
What does the new iPad mini offer?
Apple’s new iPad mini is powered by the A17 Pro chip, which was first used in last year’s iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max models. This 3 nm chipset features a 6-core GPU, which is 20% faster than its predecessor’s 5-core GPU, focusing more on gaming, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
The chip, with its 19 billion transistors, is 10% faster than its competitors and consists of six cores, two high-performance cores, and four efficiency cores that consume less power than its rivals. The device also includes a 5G Qualcomm modem and Wi-Fi 6E technology.
In addition, a 16-core Neural Engine enhances the image signal processor, making the A17 Pro hardware stand out from the competition. Thanks to this, the iPad mini’s performance is expected to impress most users. Moreover, many of the rumors that surfaced ahead of its release have turned out to be accurate.
Another notable feature of the new tablet is its support for Apple Intelligence AI functions. It also comes with 128 GB of storage in the standard version, which is double the storage of its predecessor.
The model boasts an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display with P3 wide color gamut and True Tone technology. It features a 12 MP wide rear camera capable of 4K video recording and a 12 MP front-facing selfie camera.
The new iPad mini is currently available for pre-order and will come in Space Gray, Blue, Purple, and Starlight color options. General sales will begin on October 23. Also, the 128 GB variant is priced at $499.
